Tree/ Space Cable (Medium Voltage)

Used for aerial distribution in the proximity of trees. The issue posed by this solution is the potential electrical discharge through trees, the cost of trimming tree limbs, and efforts to prevent fires in wooded areas. 

Performance Requirements:

• Superior tensile and elongation 
• Tracking resistance
• Sunlight resistance
• Flame retardancy 

Underground Ruggedized (Low Voltage) 

Placed underground either directly buried or in ducts. 

Issues: 

• Unintended cable damage by later excavation
• Requires improved abrasion, scoring, and impact resistance

Performance Requirements:

• Improved abrasion, scoring, impact, and crush
• Cable flexibility 
• Sunlight resistance
